Brian and I just got back from a trip to the Grand Canyon-we are trying to get our fill of Americana before we move to Japan! We got there Saturday morning, set up camp, and hiked the Rim Trail during the day to get a feel of the situation for the next day. We hung around the Canyon rim to check out the sunset, then hightailed it back to camp to start the fire and get warm! I made hobo packs for the first time ever, and they turned out well! After camping out Saturday night (it was cooooold) we got up early on Sunday and hiked down the Bright Angel Trail for about 3 miles, about 2,000 feet down. Then we had to turn around and come back up! We rocked the trail, then took it easy for the rest of the day, and settled down for another cold evening. Monday morning we drove back to San Diego, and the adventure was over. We hope to be able to see Yosemite or Sequoia before we leave for Japan in January.
